Lotte studied at Sint Lucas in Brussels where she obtained a Masters in graphic arts. She also obtained in Masters mixed media in Ghent. During her studies, she went to Erasmus in the Netherlands, which was a very educational experience for her and where she got the idea to join her ideas with others around the world. For example, she has worked and lived in New York.
One of her works, "Forget & Remember" can be seen in Brussels in the Maalbeek tunnel. It is a work in a public place, yet it is a ‘non-space’ space where people do not feel the need to spend time. It is, as it were, an anti-monument. The work consists of a light installation that is fierce at night but becomes invisible through the sunlight during the day. Despite the dimensions of the work, it is sometimes not noticed because the light has no materiality. In 2014, she made a similar work, a light installation with the following words; "All things will never be all things". A subsequent work she discussed during her lecture was a combination of two works; "The time keeper" and "Circles of fifths". It was a small sound installation which she described as a 'small sculpture'. "Circles of fifths" is inspired by an old drawing from 1679 where all the chords are depicted on a circle. You can read this clockwise or counter-clockwise. "The time keeper" a sound system that amplifies the "Circles of fifths", is played by two musicians with percussion instruments, which have a specific chord. The boys continue to play the same figures in the meantime. The work is very fragile and every little mistake becomes very noticeable.
Because the cycles inspired her, she went on with the idea and made a number of other works with a certain rhythm. 'Again' is a sound recording where the same words are repeated; Break up, break down, start all over, it's just the beginning .... These are mounted on top of each other so that the work gets a certain stratification. A different work of hers, but with a certain stratification, and rhythm are her prints. She collected stones and placed them on a surface that was treated with chemicals in a dark room. When it is subsequently exposed to sunlight, it gives a blue coulor. With this technique, she has worked more in 2016, "All I have seen teaches me to trust". She also often worked with projections of sunlight "Colour = only light", which she realized in 2012, was one of them. When the sun does not shine there is no work of art.
Sometimes Van Audenaeren also gets the request to create a work for a specific place or group. For example, in 2016 she was asked to make a permanent job for a day nursery. One big mirror with sound installation was the end result. The mirror refers to a kind of snapshot, it is a link to the future. The activities in the room are acoustically reflected and the movements are linked to the sound. In the following years, she started experimenting a lot with all kinds of stones, in different sizes and materials. Lotte, for example, made various stones in glass that she suggested where time capsules. Her work was given the name; “For fits people have simply moved in time”. This was not her only work with stones; "All indications", "sound meteors", "How to disappear", are some examples.
A work that still raises a lot of questions for herself is: "All stones will be returned". In this work, she treated a number of stones, first drenched in silver later in copper and finally in gold. So that the stones consisted of high-quality carat gold. After this treatment, she returned the stones where she had found them. Today she still wonders what happened to these stones. This was just a small selection of Lotte's work that she discussed with us during her lecture. She also told us that many more works will follow.

Één van haar werken, “Forget & Remember” kan je bezichtigen in Brussel in de Maalbeek tunnel. Ondanks de afmetingen van het werk wordt het soms niet opgemerkt doordat het licht geen materialiteit heeft. In 2014 maakte ze een gelijkaardig werk, een licht installatie met de volgende woorden; “All things will never be all things”. Een volgend werk dat ze besproken heeft tijdens haar lezing, was een combinatie van twee werken; “The time keeper” + “Circles of fifths”. Het was een kleine geluidsinstallatie wat ze zelf beschreef als een ‘klein sculptuur’. “Circles of fifths” is geïnspireerd op een oude tekening uit 1679 waar al de akkoorden worden afgebeeld op een cirkel. Deze kan je zowel wijzerzin als tegenwijzerzin lezen. “The time keeper” een geluidsinstallatie dat de “Circles of fifths” versterkt, wordt gespeeld door twee muzikanten met slaginstrumenten, die een specifieke naklank hebben. De jongens blijven in tussentijd dezelfde figuren spelen. Het werk heeft een zekere fragiliteit over zich heen en is heel broos, elke kleine fout wordt dan ook heel waarneembaar.
Doordat de cycli haar inspireerde, is ze met het idee verder gegaan en heeft ze nog een aantal andere werken gemaakt met een zeker ritme in. Onder anderen ‘Again’ is een geluidsopname waar steeds dezelfde woorden gesproken worden; Break up, break down, start all over, it’s just the beginning… Deze worden boven elkaar gemonteerd dat het werk een zekere gelaagdheid over zich krijgt. Een heel ander werk van haar, maar steeds met een zekere gelaagdheid, en ritme zijn haar prints. Zo heeft ze stenen verzameld en dit op een oppervlakte gelegd die daarna zijn behandeld met chemicaliën in een donkere kamer. Wanneer deze vervolgens aan het zonlicht worden blootgesteld, geeft het een blauwe kleur. Met deze techniek heeft ze meer gewerkt in 2016, “All I have seen teaches me to trust”. Verder heeft ze ook vaak gewerkt met projecties van zonlicht “Color = only light”, dat ze in 2012 verwezenlijkte was er één van. Met andere woorden wanneer de zon niet schijnt is er geen kunstwerk.
Soms krijgt Van Audenaeren ook de vraag om een werk te creëren voor een specifieke plaats of groep. Zo kreeg ze in 2016 de vraag om een permanent werk te maken voor een kinderdagverblijf. Één grote spiegel met sound installation was het eindresultaat. De spiegel verwijst naar een soort momentopname, het is een link naar de toekomst. De activiteiten in het dagverblijf worden akoestisch weerspiegeld en de bewegingen worden gelinkt aan het geluid. De volgende jaren is ze vooral veel gaan experimenteren met allerlei soorten stenen, in verschillende groottes en materialen. Lotte maakte bv. verschillende stenen in glas die ze voorstelde als tijdscapsules. Haar werk kreeg de naam; ‘For past individuals have simply moved in time’. Dit was niet haar enige werk met stenen; “All indications”, “sound meteors”, “How to disapear”, zijn nog enkele voorbeelden.
Een werk dat bij haarzelf nog steeds heel wat vragen oproept is het volgende: “All stones will be returned”. In dit werk heeft ze een aantal stenen behandeld, eerst gedrenkt in zilver later in koper en tot slot in goud. Zodat de stenen bestonden uit hoogwaardig karaat goud. Na deze behandeling heeft ze de stenen teruggebracht waar ze deze had gevonden. Ze vraagt zich vandaag de dag nog steeds af wat er met deze stenen gebeurd is. Dit was slechts een kleine selectie van Lotte haar werk die ze tijdens haar lezing besproken heeft met ons. Zo vertelde ze ons ook dat er nog vele werken zullen volgen.
