MC studied Fine Arts at the Camberwell School of Arts & Crafts, at the Royal College of Art in London. In 1985, he obtained his Master degree. Today, he gives guest lectures about multidisciplinary Art. Besides these lectures he is still doing research about this subject. He is questionning the three concepts ‘time-space-place’.
His work is meant to be a copy without original, the presentation/image of an object, a semiotic sign, a symbol. We can classify it as contemporary artwork.
Michael himself calls it hyperrealistic, a simulation of something that could be art. A lot of interpretations are possible, but despite this, the parameters and the conditions of existence are confirmed.
To create a pure feeling, his work is exhibited superficially.
The presentation is carefully chosen so his work recieves full attention. The materials he works with are very basic. Iron oxide, oil, and glaze.
They are presented on canvas, to give the illusion of order and beauty.
A geometric shape is presented in his work. It is made out of 32 symmetric ordened points. The ratio between rayons of the inner and outer circles: 0, … This way, all the angles of the star result in 90°. This indicates architectural harmony and perfection.
Unexpected
During the mathematic research, the meaning of the form was not taken into account.
A secret space was created, a spiritual bouddhist symbol, a Jungian psychiatric mandala. This grafical expression represents Universe and completeness.

Vandaag de dag geeft hij gastlezingen over de multidisciplinaire kunst. Naast het geven van lezingen is hijzelf ook bezig met het onderzoek hiernaar. De drie begrippen ‘time-space-place’ stelt hij hierbij in vraag.
Het werk is bedoeld als een kopie zonder origineel, als een afbeelding van een object, een semiotisch teken, een symbool. We kunnen het klasseren als een hedendaags kunstwerk. Michael beschrijft het als hyperrealistisch, het is een simulatie van iets wat kunst zou kunnen zijn. Er zijn veel interpretaties mogelijk maar desondanks zijn de parameters en de voorwaarden van het bestaan bevestigd. Om een puur gevoel uit te lokken wordt het oppervlakkig tentoongesteld. De manier van tentoonstellen is dusdanig gekozen om het werk volledig tot zijn recht te laten komen. Zo bestaat het werk uit een aantal basismaterialen ijzeroxide, olie en glazuur. Deze zijn gepresenteerd op canvas om zo een illusie te vormen van orde en schoonheid.
Op het werk wordt een geometrische vorm afgebeeld bestaande uit 32 symmetrisch gerangschikte punten. Hieruit volgt de verhouding tussen de stralen van binnenste en buitenste cirkels: 0,8971675863. Op deze manier zullen alle hoeken van de ster resulteren in 90°. Dit wijst op architecturale harmonie en perfectie.
Onverwacht gevolg
Waar geen rekening mee was gehouden tijdens het wiskundig onderzoek is de betekenis van de vorm. Ze genereerde hiermee een heilige ruimte, een spiritueel boeddhistisch/hindoeïstisch symbool, een Jungiaanse psychiatrische mandala. Deze grafische uitdrukking staat voor het universum en heelheid.
